Kishan Reddy urges Telangana Govt to implement Ayushman Bharat scheme

Hyderabad: Union Minister Kishan Reddy said the central government is committed to safeguarding public health and has launched the Ayushman Bharat scheme to provide free treatment for the poor people.

He was speaking on Sunday at the inauguration of the Telangana marketing and distribution warehouse of Lorion Pharma & Surgical Company under the Indian Generic Medicine Scheme at the Uppal Industrial Area. Governor Dr Jishnu Dev Varma was present at the event.

Kishan Reddy criticised the previous BRS government for delaying implementation of Ayushman Bharat in Telangana. He urged the Revanth Reddy government to roll out the scheme so that poor families in the state could benefit.

The minister said the Modi government provides free medical treatment worth up to ₹5 lakh for individuals aged 70 and above, regardless of their assets or pension status, at any hospital in any state under Ayushman Bharat. He also encouraged the public to opt for generic medicines, noting they cost 50% to 90% less than branded drugs.
