HYDERABAD: Union Minister and Telangana BJP President G. Kishan Reddy welcomed the Telangana High Court’s verdict in the Dilsukhnagar blasts case, which upheld the death sentence awarded to the five convicts by the NIA court. He said the judgment reinforces that there is no place for violence or terrorism in a democracy.
In a statement on Tuesday, Kishan Reddy said that the death sentence is the only appropriate punishment for terrorists who orchestrated such a horrific massacre. He noted that the decision brings a sense of justice to the families of the victims, who have lived with this trauma for the past 12 years.
“The Telangana High Court has sent a clear message that violence has no place in a democratic society,” he said, adding that the BJP, on behalf of which he was speaking, welcomed the High Court’s endorsement of the NIA court’s verdict.
Kishan Reddy further asserted that the Modi government is working with a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism. He claimed that under 11 years of BJP rule, there has been no room for such incidents and that the government continues to give top priority to national security.
“The Modi government is committed to completely eradicating terrorism. We do not support appeasement politics in any form, and all political parties should recognise this fundamental principle,” he added.
He praised the National Investigation Agency for its comprehensive investigation and credited law enforcement for playing a key role in ensuring that the culprits were brought to justice. He also extended congratulations to the police personnel who investigated the case.
Calling for tougher measures to ensure national security, Kishan Reddy urged all governments to adopt a more stringent approach in combating terrorism.
