Hyderabad: Minister for Roads & Buildings and Cinematography Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Saturday launched the brochure and poster for the Bathukamma Young Filmmakers Challenge. This state-level contest invites youth to creatively present Telangana’s culture, history, and welfare schemes through short films and music videos.
The minister described the initiative as a “golden platform” for emerging filmmakers to showcase their skills. Organised by the Telangana State Film Development Corporation (FDC) under the Cinematography department’s guidance, the challenge aims to boost regional identity through digital storytelling.
Komatireddy commended FDC chairman Dil Raju for leading the initiative. He stressed that the state government is focused on promoting local traditions and giving young talent a stage. “Competitions like this not only highlight Telangana’s traditions but also bring fresh talent into the limelight,” he said.
The contest is open to individuals under 40 years of age. Participants must submit original content in 4K resolution. They can choose between short films up to three minutes and music videos up to five minutes. Themes include Telangana’s festivals, art forms, heritage, and key government schemes like Maha Lakshmi, Gruhajyothi, Indiramma Indlu, and Young India initiatives.
Top entries will win ₹3 lakh, ₹2 lakh, and ₹1 lakh respectively. Additionally, five participants will each receive ₹20,000 as consolation prizes. All winners will also get certificates and mementoes.
Submissions are due by September 30, 2025. Entries can be sent by email to youngfilmmakerschallenge@gmail.com or via WhatsApp at 81258 34009. A jury of experts will evaluate the entries before announcing the winners.
