Hyderabad: Roads & Buildings and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Tuesday reaffirmed his commitment to making Nalgonda a model district in Telangana, promising significant investments in education, infrastructure, and public services.
Addressing a high-level review meeting at the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat, the minister said his priority was to honour the trust placed in him by the people of undivided Nalgonda over the last 30 years. He focused particularly on strengthening higher education in the region.
Reddy described Mahatma Gandhi University in Nalgonda as a flagship institution and urged its leadership to enhance academic standards and reputation. He announced a state government grant of ₹60.22 crore for infrastructure development at the university.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Altaf Hussain submitted a proposal to introduce new professional courses including Pharmacy, LLB, and LLM. He requested government support to fulfil long-pending academic aspirations in the district. Komatireddy responded affirmatively, stating that the Congress government was committed to bringing structural reforms in education.
He assured that a University College of Pharmacy and a Law College would be set up in Nalgonda soon, aligning with the vision to offer a wide spectrum of quality academic options locally.
Officials present at the meeting included Yogita Rana, Secretary of Education; Devasena, Commissioner of Technical and Higher Education; Prof. Altaf Hussain, Vice-Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University; and Registrar Ravi.
