Komatireddy highlights pharma graduates’ role in global innovation

Hyderabad: Minister for Roads & Buildings and Cinematography Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Saturday said pharmaceutical graduates are central to global innovation, research, and public health. He added that their work carries far-reaching humanitarian value.

He made these remarks at the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the Kakatiya University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences Alumni (1974–2025). The event was held at the Exhibition Grounds in Hyderabad. Ministers Duddilla Sridhar Babu and Adluri Laxman, along with KU Vice Chancellor Prof. K. Pratap Reddy, faculty members, alumni, and students attended the ceremony.

Komatireddy praised the KU Pharma Alumni Association for organising the milestone event. He said it reflected the university’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence and social responsibility.

“Pharmacy as a profession bridges research and healthcare,” the Minister said. “Doctors treat patients, but it is the pharmacist who defines the medicine — its purpose, its formulation, and its dosage.”

He cited the example of Pailla Malla Reddy from Sankishala village in Nalgonda district. Reddy, he noted, has built Bactolac Pharmaceuticals into a global company now valued at ₹10,000 crore. Komatireddy urged students to take inspiration from such success stories.

He also spoke about the transformative role of education. Institutions like KU, he said, are laying the foundation for India’s progress in innovation, industry, and social development.

Moreover, he acknowledged KU’s five-decade legacy in research, teaching, and public service. He applauded alumni for their philanthropic contributions towards student welfare and campus development.

Finally, Komatireddy said the Golden Jubilee should not merely mark past achievements. Instead, he called it a launchpad for future collaboration and breakthroughs in pharmaceutical science.
