Hyderabad: Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy on Thursday dismissed speculation that he plans to resign from the party, calling the rumours baseless and aimed at damaging his reputation.
He was speaking to the media at Peddakaparthi village in Chityala mandal, Nalgonda district, during a stopover en route to a private programme in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. He had lunch with party workers before addressing journalists.
“False reports are being circulated that I am quitting Congress, switching parties, or launching a new outfit. These are completely untrue,” he said. “I have only expressed my views publicly to strengthen the ruling Congress. What is wrong with that?”
He also denied claims that he was planning to meet former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. “Even today, I am travelling to Guntur for a private event, but rumours are being floated again,” he said.
Rajagopal Reddy announced that he would soon hold a press conference to outline his political plans. Until then, he urged the public and party cadre not to believe such “false propaganda”.
