Hyderabad: Telangana Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Monday landed unannounced at the Nalgonda Municipal and RDO offices, catching officials off-guard as he made a pointed assessment of service delivery, staff conduct, and file movement. What followed was a no-holds-barred review that left little room for bureaucratic complacency.
Without any prior notice, the minister walked into the offices, asked to see pending files, and directly questioned staff over backlogs and public complaints. He interacted with citizens, listen to their grievances, and gave on-the-spot instructions for resolution. His message was blunt: public offices are meant to serve the people not to operate as personal fiefdoms.
Reviewing administrative delays and procedural gaps, Komatireddy made it clear that negligence would not be tolerated. “Each officer is paid to serve. If anyone fails to deliver, they will face the consequences,” he said, addressing staff in a closed-door interaction that, according to sources, pulled no punches.
The visit wasn’t ceremonial. The minister went file-by-file, cross-checked service records, and flagged issues ranging from slow responses to citizen applications, to sanitation lapses in town limits. At one point, he reportedly asked why complaints that should take days were being kept pending for weeks.
The inspections come as part of a broader push to restore public confidence in local governance and establish clear lines of accountability. Komatireddy later posted on social media that surprise visits would continue until every office was aligned with citizen needs, not bureaucratic comfort.
For many residents who had grown used to delays and dead-ends, Monday’s visit offered a rare moment of direct access and prompt action. For the officials inside, it was a wake-up call that the new tone from the top was firm, and very much watching.
