Hyderabad: Telangana Minister Konda Surekha, speaking at a protest in Delhi on Tuesday, accused the BJP of caste-based politics and demanded 42% reservations for Backward Classes (BCs).
Addressing the dharna at Jantar Mantar, Surekha said the Centre had repeatedly failed to ensure justice for BCs. She criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allegedly excluding President Droupadi Murmu a Dalit widow from two major events: the new Parliament inauguration and the Ram Mandir consecration in Ayodhya.
Surekha called the BJP leadership “caste-obsessed” and said the denial of invitations to the President revealed deep-seated discrimination. She said the protest aimed not just to push for the 42% BC quota but also to highlight the Centre’s double standards on social justice.
She warned that continued neglect of BC demands would escalate tensions and strengthen Congress’s campaign narrative ahead of upcoming elections.
