Hyderabad: Inflow into the Krishna river has surged following continuous heavy rainfall in upstream regions, prompting authorities to release massive volumes of water downstream.
All small and medium reservoirs across the river basin have reached full capacity. Gates have been opened to discharge excess water, starting with the Joorala project, which released over 1 lakh cusecs.
At Srisailam, inflow continues for the tenth consecutive day. With rising levels, officials have raised three gates by 10 feet, releasing 1,48,535 cusecs downstream. Current inflow is measured at 1,37,635 cusecs.
Power generation at the hydro stations on both flanks of the dam remains uninterrupted. The reservoir’s full capacity is 885 feet, and the water level stood at 882.70 feet on Friday.
Officials are closely monitoring the situation as rainfall continues to swell river inflows across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
