Hyderabad: Flood discharge from upstream projects in Karnataka and Maharashtra has pushed heavy inflows into the Krishna river, swelling the Srisailam reservoir and prompting high-volume water releases downstream.
Inflow into the reservoir has reached 2,89,670 cusecs from upstream sources including Jurala and Sunkesula. Discharge from Srisailam currently stands at 3,02,478 cusecs.
Of the total release, 2,16,520 cusecs is being let out through eight spillway gates. An additional 20,000 cusecs is being released via the Pothireddypadu head regulator. Hydropower stations on either flank are discharging 35,315 cusecs (left bank) and 30,643 cusecs (right bank), respectively.
