Hyderabad: BRS working president and Sircilla MLA K T Rama Rao filed a ₹10 crore defamation suit in Hyderabad City Civil Court against Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar, several media houses, and social media platforms.
KTR said Bandi Sanjay made false and derogatory remarks on August 8, 2025, linking him to SIB misuse, phone tapping, and financial irregularities. He argued that the comments damaged his reputation and stemmed from political malice. Therefore, he asked the court to intervene.
KTR defamation case Bandi Sanjay tied to media, social platforms
The petition named ABN Telugu, NTV, TV5, V6, and ANN Telugu among broadcasters. It also listed India Today, NDTV, Deccan Herald, and Times of India as digital outlets that carried the remarks. Moreover, KTR accused platforms such as X, YouTube, Google, and Meta of spreading the allegations.
He stated that the content defamed him and aimed to damage his public image. His legal team, M/s P V Janani & Associates, filed the petition after Bandi Sanjay ignored a legal notice on August 11 and refused to issue an unconditional apology. As a result, KTR approached the court.
KTR described the remarks as “false, malicious and defamatory propaganda” designed to mislead the public. In addition, he said such conduct by a Union minister undermined the credibility of elected representatives and weakened democratic institutions.
KTR demands apology and removal of content
KTR demanded a public and unconditional apology from Bandi Sanjay. He also asked the court to stop the defendants from publishing or broadcasting further defamatory material. Meanwhile, he sought immediate removal of all defamatory stories, videos, and posts from media portals and online platforms.
The court accepted the case and issued notices. It scheduled the hearing for later this month.
