Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao alleged that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s silence on the Banakacherla project issue amounted to a deliberate conspiracy. In a post on social media, KTR remarked that Rahul Gandhi, while completing one year as Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, had failed Telangana’s interests.
He charged that Rahul Gandhi never raised any of the state’s unresolved bifurcation promises from the 2014 Reorganisation Act on the floor of the Lok Sabha. KTR said Rahul ignored demands for national status to irrigation projects, as well as the Bayyaram steel plant issue.
The BRS leader accused Rahul of staying silent on the Banakacherla project being built in Andhra Pradesh, which KTR claimed could endanger Telangana’s share of Godavari river water.
He further alleged that after announcing 420 promises to the state, Rahul had practically vanished, leaving Telangana’s hopes unaddressed while the Congress remained intoxicated by its electoral success.
