HYDERABAD: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has attributed the party’s defeat in the recent Telangana elections to three key factors—jealousy, hatred, and greed. Speaking at a BRS workers’ meeting in Karimnagar, he stated that these negative emotions were deliberately spread among the people, leading to discontent against Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR).
KTR urged party members to rally strong support for the upcoming public meeting in Warangal on April 27, emphasizing that this event would be a decisive response to critics claiming that BRS is losing ground. He reminded the audience that Karimnagar has historically played a crucial role in the party’s journey, recalling the first major BRS public meeting, “Simha Garjana,” held there on May 17, 2001, which reinvigorated the Telangana movement.
Highlighting BRS’s deep-rooted connection with Karimnagar, KTR also mentioned KCR’s victory in a by-election from the region, describing it as a testament to public trust in the party. He criticized both the BJP and Congress, labeling them as obstacles to Telangana’s development. KTR accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of failing to deliver on key promises, such as depositing ₹15 lakh into Jan Dhan accounts and creating two crore jobs annually over the last eleven years. He also blamed the Congress for its past governance failures, which, he claimed, pushed Telangana’s farmers into crisis.
Addressing party workers, KTR assured that any individuals targeting BRS members would face consequences, even if they retire or leave the country. He announced that after the Warangal meeting on April 27, the party would launch a new membership drive and restructure its committees, prioritizing dedicated grassroots workers. He warned that MLAs who remain disconnected from the people and rely solely on entourages would not be given preference in leadership roles.
KTR called on party members to expose the deceptive policies of both the BJP and Congress, urging them to highlight injustices faced by Telangana’s people. He expressed confidence that in the upcoming elections, the BRS flag would be hoisted across all 13 constituencies of the united Karimnagar district.
