Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Friday accused the Congress government of betraying Telangana’s electorate and vowed that the party would continue fighting until its pledges were fulfilled. Speaking at a rally in Khammam organized by BRS MLA Mandula Samel, KTR claimed public support for BRS remains strong and that the party is positioned to regain power.
He listed multiple shortcomings under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s government:
Alleged misuse of 42 per cent reservation and BC sub‑plan funds
Farmer distress caused by fertilizer and seed shortages
Free bus scheme failure, unmet promise of ₹2,500 monthly stipends for daughters, and ₹4,000 pension scheme unfulfilled
He charged that such broken promises amounted to betrayal. “If elections were held today, BRS would win 100 seats. Congress deceived farmers, youth, and the elderly,” he declared.
KTR defended BRS’s decade in government, highlighting developmental work: Telangana’s transformation in agriculture, water, town planning, tribal, Dalit, minority and women’s welfare. He cited electoral success as evidence: from 63 seats in 2014 to 88 in 2018.
He criticized comparisons made by Congress, quoting Ambedkar that even he “would not have imagined such base politics.” KTR warned: “Until Congress keeps its promises, they will remain in power for three more years but the people know the cost of one wrong vote.”
He ridiculed the analogy of horse versus donkey, saying “to measure a horse’s worth, look at a donkey,” implying that Congress’s governance proved it to be the latter.
