Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao accused the Congress government of pushing Telangana into a financial crisis, citing the latest Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report. In a statement on Monday, he said the report exposed the “mismanagement” of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s administration, which, he alleged, had dismantled a surplus economy without delivering a single welfare scheme or project.
KTR demanded the government explain how it was using borrowed funds when no new projects, roads, or quality meals for students had been provided. “The Congress has guaranteed the collapse of Telangana’s economy, if not the implementation of its six guarantees,” he charged.
CAG report shows steep revenue deficit
Quoting the CAG, KTR said the state’s financial condition had worsened within three months of the Congress assuming power. Telangana, which began with a surplus budget, was now facing a revenue deficit of ₹10,583 crore. Non-tax revenue collections were only 3.37% of budget estimates, he noted.
He alleged the government had already borrowed ₹20,266 crore this year, amounting to 37.5% of its annual borrowing limit, without initiating a single project. KTR asked Congress leaders who once claimed the economy was on “auto-pilot” what their response was now, and demanded the government present a clear plan to restore fiscal stability.
This is a serious Red Flag!
I never thought we would have to witness this – the latest CAG Report screams alarm bells. There is a sharp decline in Telangana’s growth
