Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president K.T. Rama Rao on Tuesday challenged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to a public debate at the Medigadda Barrage, accusing the Congress leader of evading scrutiny over his repeated claims that the structure had collapsed.
Addressing the Dalit Bandhu Sadhana Samithi at Telangana Bhavan, KTR alleged that the Chief Minister lacked the courage to confront facts. “We gave him three full days to prepare for a public debate at the Press Club. He didn’t show up,” KTR said. “Now I challenge him again let’s meet at Medigadda, not Nagarjunasagar. If he believes what he says, let him debate us there.”
He said senior BRS leader Jagadish Reddy had already visited Medigadda and reiterated the invitation to the CM. KTR accused Revanth Reddy of continuing to mislead the public despite knowing that the project had delivered water to tail-end farmers under K. Chandrashekar Rao’s tenure.
Calling the Congress manifesto “the biggest political fraud of the century,” KTR said the party had betrayed every section of society with its 420 promises. “They said everything would be implemented in 100 days. Now they’re filing cases against citizens and journalists instead of answering questions,” he said.
KTR criticised the CM’s language as undignified and irresponsible. “When asked about promises, he replies, ‘Will you cut and bite me?’ That’s not how a leader speaks. Let the people answer him in the local body elections,” he said.
