Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Sunday strongly condemned what he termed police excesses against BRS leaders and workers in Mulugu, accusing the local police of acting like Congress workers instead of upholding the law.
Addressing the media, KTR claimed that Minister Seethakka was behaving as if Mulugu was her personal fiefdom, ignoring democratic norms. He warned that some police officers acting on partisan lines would face serious consequences in the future.
KTR alleged that the harassment of Chukka Ramesh, who died by suicide after questioning irregularities in Indiramma housing allocations, was carried out by Seethakka’s followers. He demanded that cases be filed against those responsible.
He described the police blocking a peaceful protest over Ramesh’s death as undemocratic, while permission was freely granted for Congress events. According to him, police conducted midnight raids, stormed villages, and illegally arrested nearly 2,000 BRS workers, questioning under whose orders these actions were carried out.
KTR further alleged that Seethakka’s aides were involved in illegal sand transport operations and intimidating tribal residents through forest officials. He urged the minister to immediately end what he called oppressive practices in the constituency.

KTR also demanded Seethakka resign from her ministerial post, holding her accountable for the atmosphere that led to Chukka Ramesh’s death. He warned that the BRS would escalate its agitation if police did not act fairly and register cases against Seethakka’s supporters.
He emphasised that police should remember they wear khaki, not Congress scarves, and uphold the law impartially. The BRS, he added, would continue its fight against alleged injustices in Mulugu.
