HYDERABAD: BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) strongly criticised the Congress government, alleging that it was not governance for the people but a rule that harasses them. He called the Congress administration a “stain on the political history of the country” and accused it of misleading the public with unfulfilled promises.
KTR, in a Tweet on Saturday, remarked that Congress leaders had claimed they were unaware of the state’s financial situation but had still promised to implement all their commitments. They spoke of wealth creation and its distribution among the people, yet after 15 months of governance, there had been no visible progress, he asserted.
He further alleged that the Congress government had officially admitted to borrowing Rs 1.5 lakh crore in the past 15 months, averaging Rs 10,000 crore per month. However, according to him, none of the promised welfare schemes had been implemented.
KTR criticised the government for failing to waive farm loans, provide financial assistance through Rythu Bharosa, pay crop insurance premiums, ensure irrigation water, or procure agricultural produce. He pointed out that the Rs 500 per quintal bonus for paddy procurement was not given, and schemes such as the KCR Kit and Nutrition Kit had been discontinued. Additionally, he claimed that hospitals lacked medicines, the Warangal hospital construction was halted, and the TIMS hospital projects were shelved.
Highlighting the irrigation sector, KTR accused the government of neglecting repairs for the Kaleshwaram project and failing to provide irrigation water to farmers. He also alleged that work on the Palamuru-Rangareddy project had been stalled. He further claimed that students in residential schools were protesting due to a lack of quality food, with some incidents of food poisoning even resulting in deaths. He accused Congress leaders of misusing public funds by taking 20% commissions from borrowed money before clearing bills.
Calling the Congress rule a “stain on political history,” KTR asserted that farmers, agricultural laborers, students, employees, youth, and people from all sectors of society had been deceived by Congress’s “420 promises.” He concluded his remarks by stating, “This is not governance for the people, but a regime that harasses them.”
