Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) on Thursday warned that Singur Dam faced a potential threat, citing alerts from the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA). In a post on social media, he said danger alarms had already sounded this week for Jurala project and Manjeera barrage, and now for Singur as well.
KTR accused Congress and BJP leaders of double standards, alleging they criticised Kaleshwaram but downplayed repair issues in other projects. He said post-construction repairs were routine, and targeting Medigadda barrage’s two piers for political gain under the guise of commission inquiries was “malicious”.
KTR demands urgent repairs for Singur, Jurala, Manjeera
He questioned whether Jurala could function if weakened gate ropes, including the broken rope on Gate No. 9, were left unattended. He also criticised the neglect of warnings from dam safety experts about Manjeera barrage, which supplies drinking water to Hyderabad. KTR said ignoring similar alerts for Singur Dam risked its future.
Declaring that four crore people would not accept “one rule for Jurala, Manjeera, and Singur, and another for Medigadda,” he demanded urgent repairs on all irrigation projects across Telangana on a war footing.
