Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Tuesday paid rich tributes to poet and activist Kaloji Narayana Rao on his birth anniversary, hailing him as a pioneer of Telangana and a lifelong crusader for people’s rights.
Rama Rao urged the youth to draw inspiration from Kaloji’s works and ideals. “Throughout his life, Kaloji was part of Telangana’s struggles, raising his voice against tyranny and inspiring generations through his writings,” he said. He credited Kaloji with popularising Telangana’s vernacular through literature and affirming it as a people’s language rather than a dialect.
BRS recalls Kaloji’s legacy
Rama Rao noted that the BRS government under K. Chandrashekhar Rao had institutionalised Kaloji’s legacy by declaring September 9 as Telangana Language Day. He said the government also instituted the Kaloji Award, named the State Medical University in Warangal after him, and built Kaloji Kalakshetra in Hanmakonda.
Former minister and senior MLA T. Harish Rao also paid homage to Kaloji, extending greetings to citizens on Telangana Language Day. He recalled Kaloji’s writings, which warned against outsiders exploiting Telangana’s resources while condemning locals who betrayed their own people.
