Hyderabad: Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) secretary Guruva Reddy on Sunday accused former minister K.T. Rama Rao and BRS MLC K. Kavitha of orchestrating large-scale irregularities in the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), calling for a CID and ED probe into a ₹170 crore scam.
Speaking to the media, Reddy alleged that KTR and Kavitha, along with former HCA election officer Sampath Kumar, enabled systematic exploitation within the state’s cricketing system. He said rural players were denied opportunities while summer training camps, which should be free, were monetised without accountability.
He questioned how Jaganmohan Rao, whom he claimed had no cricketing background, was elected as HCA president, alleging direct involvement of KTR and Kavitha in his elevation. Reddy also accused IAS and IPS officers of violating norms by casting votes in favour of inactive associations.
He said the CID inquiry had already exposed fake clubs and forged documentation, leading to arrests. “The executive committee must be dissolved. The HCA elections should be cancelled and the clubs reformed,” he said.
Reddy alleged that nearly ₹170 crore had been siphoned off from BCCI funds meant for IPL operations. “We will present all evidence to CID and ED,” he added.
