Hyderabad: On the 90th birth anniversary of Professor Kothapalli Jayashankar, senior BRS leaders K.T. Rama Rao and MLC Kavitha paid rich tribute, calling him the intellectual pillar of the Telangana movement and vowing to preserve his ideological legacy.
BRS working president KTR described Jayashankar as the guiding force of the separate state struggle, someone who lived and breathed the movement. Recalling his unwavering presence beside KCR during the second phase of the agitation, KTR said the professor’s ideas remained vital in defending Telangana’s self-respect and safeguarding its interests today.

In his social media post, KTR urged Telangana proponents to recommit themselves to carrying Jayashankar’s philosophy to future generations. “Johar Jayashankar sir. Jai Telangana,” he concluded.
MLC Kavitha, founder of Telangana Jagruthi, also commemorated Jayashankar on the platform X. She hailed him as a visionary who exposed injustice and lit a flame of awareness among the people. Referring to his tireless campaign across regions for Telangana’s liberation from exploitative governance, she said he transformed the dream of statehood into a mass movement.
Kavitha said Jayashankar’s life goal was Telangana statehood, and his work as a guide to KCR during the movement would remain unforgettable. She offered solemn tributes on behalf of all who believed in Telangana’s identity and autonomy.
