Hyderabad: Political temperatures rose on Monday after the Telangana government ordered a CBI probe into irregularities in the Kaleshwaram project. The BRS opposed the move and held a dharna at Gun Park in Hyderabad.
Amid the turmoil, BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao met party chief and former CM K. Chandrashekar Rao at the Erravalli farmhouse. Sources said the two leaders discussed the CBI probe, the Assembly developments, and the party’s next strategy.
BRS protests CBI probe, approaches High Court
Former CM KCR and former minister Harish Rao have already filed petitions in the Telangana High Court against the Justice P.C. Ghose Commission’s report on Kaleshwaram. On Monday, their counsels mentioned the matter before the court and sought urgent hearing.
They told the court that the government’s new decision to transfer the case to the CBI must also be examined. Senior counsel Aryama Sundaram asked the bench to stop the government from moving forward until the case is heard. The High Court, however, refused to grant interim orders and posted the petition for hearing on Tuesday.
