Hyderabad: BRS Working President KT Rama Rao will miss the Green Leadership Award 2025 ceremony in New York City, citing election-related responsibilities in Telangana. The event is scheduled for September 24 as part of the 9th NYC Green School Conference during Climate Week.
KTR was selected for the honour in recognition of Telangana’s major environmental initiatives under the BRS government. He expressed gratitude to the organisers, calling the award a tribute to the state’s green mission.
Award recognises Telangana’s green governance
As Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, KTR led landmark initiatives including the planting of 10 crore saplings under the Haritha Haram programme and the development of 977 parks across Hyderabad by GHMC.
The Green Leadership Award is presented by Green Mentors, an education-focused organisation with UN ECOSOC Special Consultative Status. The group also partners with UNESCO’s Greening Education Partnership and hosts the Green School Conference each year.
