Hyderabad: Former Minister and BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao appealed to OpenAI CEO Sam Altman to establish the company’s India operations in Hyderabad. He said the city offered all necessary infrastructure and was the ideal gateway for global technology firms entering India.
Responding to Altman’s announcement that OpenAI would soon set up an office in India, KTR extended a welcome to him on X and urged that operations begin from Hyderabad. He described the city as a model hub for global innovation ecosystems.
KTR highlights Hyderabad as India’s AI gateway
KTR pointed out that Hyderabad already hosted global technology giants including Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Meta, Apple and Qualcomm. He stressed that the city had abundant talent and a strong startup culture backed by state-led initiatives such as T-Hub, WE-Hub, T-Works, the Telangana State Innovation Cell, and the Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad.
He recalled that Telangana had declared 2020 as the “Year of AI” and had rolled out several AI-driven initiatives since then. “With its combination of talent, innovation, new ideas and global connectivity, Hyderabad will lead India’s AI revolution,” KTR asserted.
