Hyderabad: Tributes poured in across Telangana on the death anniversary of Chakali Ailamma, the legendary woman fighter who led the struggle against the feudal landholding system during the Telangana peasant armed rebellion. Leaders, activists and citizens paid homage by garlanding her portraits and statues across the state.
KTR pays tribute to Chakali Ailamma on her death anniversary
BRS working president and former minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) paid his respects on social media platform X. “Salutations to Veeranari Chakali Ailamma, a symbol of Telangana’s fighting spirit,” he wrote, recalling her role in the Telangana armed struggle.
He described Ailamma as the spark that ignited the first land struggle, fighting for land and livelihood while standing against oppressive rule. KTR noted that the K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) government had officially declared Chakali Ailamma’s birth anniversary as a state observance to pass on her legacy of struggle and sacrifice to future generations.
