Hyderabad: BRS working president K. Taraka Rama Rao (KTR) questioned the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) for staying silent on repeated breaches of the Polavaram coffer dam in Andhra Pradesh. He asked why the authority failed to act even though the project has national status under the BJP-led NDA government.
Speaking to reporters, KTR noted that the coffer dam had been washed away for the second time. He demanded to know if NDSA had noticed the breach and why it had not acted as quickly as it did in the case of Medigadda pillars.
KTR hits out at Congress, BJP for targeting Kaleshwaram while ignoring Polavaram
The BRS leader criticised BJP and Congress for branding Kaleshwaram as “Kuleshwaram” after cracks developed in two Medigadda pillars. “If they have the courage, they should call Polavaram ‘Kulavaram’ now,” he remarked.
He accused BJP of double standards. He recalled that NDSA teams reached Telangana within 24 hours of the Medigadda issue during the assembly elections. Yet, no such urgency was shown in Polavaram’s case, even after repeated breaches.
KTR warned that any attempt by BJP or Congress to undermine the Kaleshwaram project would be exposed and resisted.
