Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Thursday accused the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government of trampling on the rights of Dalits and tribals by failing to implement the Chevella SC/ST Declaration. Addressing a Dalit self-respect rally in Lingampet, Kamareddy district, KTR urged voters to defeat the Congress in local body polls to register protest.
Calling the Revanth regime “anti-Dalit and anti-tribal”, KTR said Telangana was formed through years of struggle under former CM KCR, inspired by B.R. Ambedkar’s vision. He pointed to KCR’s decision to name the state secretariat after Ambedkar as a symbol of that commitment.
Taking aim at Revanth Reddy’s personal spending, KTR alleged that the CM paid ₹1.35 lakh for a meal during a Vemulawada visit, while Gurukul students were being served substandard food for ₹100 per day. He claimed “hundreds” of students had died due to the poor quality of food under the Congress administration.
KTR also honoured a man named Sailu, who was allegedly humiliated by police on Ambedkar Jayanti in Lingampet, stating the incident symbolised an insult to the entire Dalit community. He vowed to avenge the affront politically.
