Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Wednesday slammed the arrest of party general secretary RS Praveen Kumar, calling it illegal and politically driven.
Kautala police detained Kumar and other BRS leaders while they stood with tribal farmers in Komaram Bheem Asifabad district. The farmers are demanding land rights under the Podu cultivation issue.
KTR accused the Revanth Reddy-led government of using brute force. “Handcuffing farmers and jailing those who stand by them shows this government’s cowardice,” he said. He urged police to release all detained BRS leaders, including RS Praveen Kumar, and to stop what he called “conspiratorial arrests.”
He said the state was targeting opposition leaders to silence dissent. “The fall of this anti-democratic government is only a matter of time,” he warned.
