Hyderabad: BRS working president and former minister K.T. Rama Rao on Friday launched a sharp attack on the BJP over its silence regarding alleged encroachments on Bhadrachalam Ramachandraswamy temple lands.
Referring to the 889 acres reportedly under encroachment in Andhra Pradesh, KTR questioned why Telangana BJP president Ramchander Rao had failed to raise the issue. He accused the BJP of political double standards and asked whether Rao’s silence was due to lack of time or political convenience.
Posting on social media platform X, KTR demanded that the BJP set aside political alliances and act to protect temple properties. He stressed the need to implement High Court directives in the temple land dispute and said BJP leaders should speak up if they truly respected Lord Rama.
In a pointed message, KTR said: “Why is BJP Ramchander silent? When lands of Lord Rama are being grabbed, won’t you speak? Are you quiet because your ally government is behind it? Or are you ready to hand over all of Bhadrachalam this time?”
He further accused the BJP of exploiting religious sentiment for votes while ignoring issues that affect temple assets. Telangana, he said, was watching the BJP’s “drama for seats” and warned that its silence on Bhadrachalam would not go unnoticed.
KTR called on the BJP to act either by urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi or by pressuring its allies in Andhra Pradesh, saying the priority should be to “free Bhadrachalam from illegal occupation.”
BJP President Ramachandra Rao has no time for our Telangana’s Bhadrachala Ramachandra Prabhu?
Why isn’t Bandrachalam land sacrosanct enough for the BJP to protect?
889.5 acres if our Bhadrachalam temple land has been grabbed in Andhra Pradesh and not a word from the BJP?!!… pic.twitter.com/qlRAezSpww
