Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and the Congress, accusing them of betraying Backward Classes and running a government built on “drama and deception.”
BRS questions Congress’ intent on BC reservations
While welcoming new leaders from Parigi constituency into the BRS fold at Telangana Bhavan, KTR questioned Congress’ sincerity on the BC reservation issue. He reminded the gathering that the party had promised 42% reservations with legal backing ahead of the elections. Yet now, they link the implementation to Rahul Gandhi becoming Prime Minister.
“Was that condition ever mentioned in the BC Declaration?” he asked. By contrast, he recalled that KCR went to Delhi with the mission of securing Telangana statehood and succeeded. “Can Revanth Reddy claim even that level of achievement?” he challenged.
KTR accuses Revanth of ‘KCR-phobia’
Furthermore, KTR accused Revanth of being fixated on KCR, even while in Delhi. “He seems mentally obsessed. This is KCR-phobia,” he said. He claimed the Congress government was using the BC quota as a political diversion to avoid answering for unfulfilled campaign promises.
He also labelled Revanth’s style of governance as scripted and hollow. “Whether he’s aligning with Modi, Rahul Gandhi, or Chandrababu Naidu it’s all just theatre,” KTR said. He pointed out that more than 420 pre-poll promises remain unaddressed.
Defected MLAs and alleged corruption under Congress
Shifting focus, KTR mocked defected MLAs for their identity crisis. “These leaders don’t even know which party they belong to anymore. They’ve traded their party scarves for divine ones,” he said. He criticised the Assembly Speaker for pretending to be unaware of their affiliations. “Even schoolchildren in Telangana know,” he remarked.
As local body elections near, KTR warned that Congress leaders were preparing to funnel “ill-gotten money” amassed during 20 months of corrupt rule. Therefore, he urged voters to reject the Congress at the polls.
“They have failed on every front power supply, fertiliser distribution, rural development, and urban services. Telangana has been dragged ten years backward,” he warned. “After the elections, they’ll even cancel Rythu Bandhu,” he added.
Reflecting on BRS’s decade in power, KTR acknowledged that while the party focused on infrastructure and welfare, some grassroots workers may have felt ignored. Still, he promised that BRS would prioritise their contributions once back in office.
He concluded with a call to action: “Work village by village. Raise the pink flag again. We will sweep Congress and BJP aside. KCR will return as Chief Minister.”
