Hyderabad: BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao criticised the Congress government over what he described as a surge in crime across Telangana, pointing to two recent incidents in Hyderabad.
In a post on social media platform X, KTR said the city witnessed “two shocking crimes in just one week” — a daylight gunpoint robbery at a jewellery store and the murder of a 12-year-old girl in Kukatpally. He said rising crime under the Congress regime was putting public safety in danger.

“Citizens deserve protection, not fear,” KTR wrote, accusing the government of weakening policing by engaging the Telangana police in “political witch hunts” instead of focusing on law and order. He also shared newspaper cuttings highlighting the two cases to emphasise his point.
The BRS leader’s remarks come amid growing political sparring over law and order, with opposition parties increasingly targeting the government on public safety.
