Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao accused the Congress government of deliberate negligence in handling Telangana’s irrigation needs and vowed that his party would continue to fight for the state’s farmers.
In a sharply worded post on X, KTR said the ruling Congress had failed to lift water through the Kaleshwaram project, leaving canals dry and pushing farmers into crisis. “Farmers’ tears are flowing in the canals instead of water,” he said.
He criticised the government for failing to operate the Kannepalli pump house to supply water despite the possibility of doing so even without repairs at Medigadda. He cited the example of water previously reaching Ravi Cheruvu in Penpahad mandal of Suryapet district from Kaleshwaram, covering 450 km and rising 600 meters in elevation.
Highlighting the Kakatiya canal’s progress under the previous BRS regime, he said the system was extended to the final ayacut after 22 years, but now lies unused due to inaction.
KTR accused the Congress of punishing farmers while indulging in “festival politics” and warned that BRS would resist its anti-farmer policies and fight to safeguard agricultural interests in the state.
