Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Monday accused the Congress government of cheating Telangana’s farmers by turning Hyderabad Pharma City land into private real estate under the false name of “Future City.”
Speaking at a press conference, KTR said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy lacked vision and had replaced a national-scale industrial project with a “PR stunt” to benefit his family. “Revanth wants to turn Pharma City land into a real estate venture for his relatives. But we will not let that happen,” he said.
He slammed the Congress for halting the KCR-led Pharma City project, which had seen ₹20,000 crore in public investment. Instead, he said, they floated a fictional plan called Future City. “This is the danger of letting an unfit leader run the state,” KTR added.
KTR reminded that the government had acquired over 20,000 acres from 56 villages with farmers’ consent. “Those farmers gave land for industries, not real estate. Now, they feel cheated,” he said. He also recalled that the Congress, while campaigning, had promised to return all land to farmers—a promise it failed to keep.
Citing the 2013 Land Acquisition Act, KTR said land taken for public benefit cannot be used for private projects. “I warned them in the Assembly two years ago. They ignored the law, burned hundreds of crores on PR, and now even officials admit legal problems are rising,” he explained.
KTR accused the Congress government of hiding the truth and cheating the very farmers it once promised to protect. “This isn’t mismanagement. It’s betrayal,” he said. He demanded the government issue a clear statement on the status of the Pharma City lands.
“If the government doesn’t act, BRS will fight with farmers to defend their rights,” KTR warned.
No Future for this so-called “Future City”!
A classic example of what happens when a clueless leader runs the State
