Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao accused the Congress of deliberately humiliating former Telangana minister Sabitha Indra Reddy during a government event in Maheshwaram, calling the incident disgraceful and politically vindictive.
Reacting sharply to the protocol controversy that erupted during the ration card distribution programme in Maheshwaram, Rama Rao condemned the ruling party for sidelining Sabitha, who served as the state’s first woman home minister. He called the treatment meted out to her “shameful” and a clear attempt to target Opposition MLAs.
He criticised the Congress for ignoring Sabitha while extending prominence to defeated candidates, alleging a systematic campaign to marginalise political opponents. Rama Rao further claimed that Telangana police were acting at the behest of Congress leaders, stating such behaviour was becoming typical of the current government.

Rama Rao demanded an apology from the police officer involved in the incident and urged the Director General of Police to initiate action. “We will return to power in three years. Everyone will be held accountable,” he warned.
The row reportedly erupted after Sabitha was denied protocol privileges at the official programme, triggering widespread backlash and political controversy.
