HYDERABAD: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) launched a sharp attack on the Telangana Congress government, dismissing the 2025-26 budget as a complete failure. He criticized it for lacking meaningful allocations for welfare and development, comparing the government’s performance to a sinking ship. According to KTR, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has failed to fulfill the key election promises made to the people of Telangana.
Using sharp sarcasm, KTR mocked the government’s inefficiency, remarking that when a lizard grows too big, it turns into a chameleon, and when a chameleon grows too big, it becomes Revanth Reddy. He accused the administration of focusing on superficial matters rather than governance and said the budget represented a fall from the sky straight into the underworld.
A major point of criticism was the Congress government’s failure to implement the six guarantees it promised before the elections. KTR pointed out that financial aid for women and the elderly was absent from the budget, and despite worsening financial conditions in the state, 40% of the government’s tenure had already been wasted. He also highlighted the lack of any mention of the ‘Tula Bangaram’ gold scheme, leaving many promises unfulfilled.
The budget also came under fire for its neglect of crucial sectors. KTR noted that under the previous BRS regime, ₹1,200 crore had been allocated for the handloom sector, whereas the Congress government slashed it to just ₹300 crore. He accused the administration of ignoring auto drivers, breaking promises made to the Yadav community, and failing to provide the 25% reservation in wine shops for the Goud community. Dalits, too, had been deceived, with no significant allocations for their welfare, while unemployed youth were left without any concrete assurances.
KTR went on to say that the budget prioritized sending money to Delhi rather than serving Telangana’s interests. He criticized the lack of unemployment benefits, the absence of funding for Vidya Bharosa, and the government’s failure to address the tragic deaths of students in Gurukul schools. Hyderabad, once the economic hub of the state, had become a city of stalled projects, he lamented.
Mocking the government’s grand ambitions, KTR said it did not even know how many zeros were in a trillion-dollar economy. He compared the Congress rule to a disaster worse than COVID, claiming it had shattered Telangana’s financial stability like a house of cards. Concluding his remarks, KTR dismissed the budget as a sham that served no real purpose for the poor and only sent funds to the central government.
