Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president K.T. Rama Rao on Monday thanked a Hyderabad-based doctor couple for extending full financial support to MBBS student Sushmita, a native of Jogulamba Gadwal district, under the “Gift a Smile” initiative.
Sushmita, currently pursuing her MBBS at Osmania Medical College, had appealed for assistance via KTR’s official Twitter handle due to financial hardship. Moved by her appeal and inspired by KTR’s birthday campaign, neurophysician Dr Chandra Shekhar Pathakoti and his wife Dr Pranaya Vani pledged to fund her entire education.
The couple handed over ₹1 lakh as part of the assistance on Sunday. Dr Pathakoti, a native of Rajakkapet in Dubbaka mandal, is associated with Care Hospital in Musheerabad and Sripooja Hospital in Nacharam.
Sushmita, accompanied by her family, personally thanked KTR, who in turn honoured the doctor couple with a shawl and praised their gesture as a reflection of public spirit and compassion.
