Hyderabad: BRS working president K. Taraka Rama Rao on Friday urged voters in the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency to defeat the Congress party in the upcoming by-election. Speaking at a booth-level meeting in Erragadda, he said the bypoll would shape the future of Telangana.
KTR accused the Congress of planning to dismantle key welfare schemes if elected. He also alleged that the Congress and BJP had formed an informal alliance to target former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. He called the current Congress-led state government a “joint venture” that backs Prime Minister Narendra Modi and businessman Gautam Adani, despite public criticism from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
Congress targeted over Waqf move, lack of Muslim minister
He also criticised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for swiftly implementing amendments to the Waqf Act in alignment with the BJP-led Centre. KTR pointed out that for the first time, the Congress had formed a government in Telangana without appointing a single Muslim minister.
Highlighting BRS’s urban record, KTR said the party had consistently won all city constituencies. He recalled that former MLA Maganti Gopinath had won Jubilee Hills three times despite negative campaigns. He urged voters to now back Gopinath’s wife, Sunitha, who is contesting the by-election on a BRS ticket.
