Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao urged the electorate to view the Jubilee Hills bypoll as a decisive rejection of the Congress government’s 20 months of alleged incompetence, corruption and collusion.
Speaking at a preparatory meeting at Telangana Bhavan, in the presence of Maganti Sunitha, wife of the late MLA Maganti Gopinath, KTR warned that a victory by Congress would undermine welfare and reverse gains made under BRS. He said the Jubilee Hills bypoll would be a referendum on Congress rule.
Jubilee Hills bypoll framed as test of Congress performance
KTR called on party cadres to campaign diligently for the BRS candidate, stressing the constituency’s mixed demographic of slums and affluent areas required a full-scale outreach. He accused senior Congress leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, of deceiving Telangana voters with false pre-election promises.
He criticised the Congress government for demolishing homes of the poor people under the HYDRAA and Musi Riverfront projects, while protecting illegal constructions by its own leaders. KTR said HYDRAA targeted only the huts of the underprivileged, ignoring the waterfront residences of Revanth Reddy and his family.
He alleged covert partnership between Congress and BJP, pointing out the lack of action against Revanth Reddy despite numerous scandals. “If Modi were serious, why has he not launched a case against him?” KTR asked. He added that BRS’s development under former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao remained inclusive and apolitical.

KTR urged the Jubilee Hills bypoll to be fought as a tribute to Maganti Gopinath’s legacy and as a mission requiring contact with every household. He said the bypoll must send a clear message against the Congress’s style of governance.
