Hyderabad: Kukatpally police arrested three men in connection with the murder of Syed Shahed, a 26-year-old businessman and rowdy-sheeter from Borabanda, who was killed on June 29.
The accused were identified as Y. Hanak alias Munna (25), Md Sajid (24), and Md Sameer Khan alias Dagad Sameer (25). All three have been remanded to judicial custody.
According to police, the Kukatpally murder stemmed from a personal enmity between Shahed and Sameer Khan, worsened by online criticism. Shahed had allegedly targeted Sameer on social media, denting his reputation and influence in local criminal circles. Munna and Sajid, both former associates of Shahed, joined the plan to eliminate him in a bid to assert control.
Police say three men lured 24-year-old Shahed to what was supposed to be a birthday gathering for a mutual friend named Pavan. The group met at an open ground behind Dev Istana Homes in Prakash Nagar, Kukatpally, where they had been drinking. At some point, Sajid allegedly slashed Shahed’s throat with a broken liquor bottle. Moments later, Munna and Sameer reportedly struck him with stones. Shahed died at the scene.
Crime scene evidence included empty liquor bottles, blood-stained stones, and phones used to coordinate the meeting. The police noted that Sameer Khan has a long criminal history, including cases of theft, stalking, and murder across several Hyderabad police stations such as Jubilee Hills, SR Nagar, Sanathnagar, and Bachupally. He is listed as a rowdy-sheeter at Borabanda police station.
