Hyderabad: The political community in Hyderabad came together in mourning on Sunday, as leaders from across the spectrum paid their respects to Jubilee Hills MLA Maganti Gopinath, whose sudden death has left a void in public life.
Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu remembered Gopinath as a steadfast leader whose journey began in the Telugu Desam Party before he rose to prominence. “It’s deeply saddening to learn of his passing,” Naidu said, recalling Gopinath’s days as Telugu Yuvatha general secretary and Hyderabad Urban president in the undivided state. He highlighted Gopinath’s transition from a grassroots leader to a three-time MLA, first elected in 2014 on a TDP ticket. Naidu extended heartfelt condolences to Gopinath’s family, praising his dedication to public service.

Union Minister and BJP Telangana president G. Kishan Reddy described the loss as a personal one. “Since the formation of Telangana, Gopinath served Jubilee Hills with distinction,” Reddy said, adding that his accessible style of leadership endeared him to constituents. Reddy offered prayers for Gopinath’s soul and expressed his sympathies to the bereaved family, party workers, and supporters.

TPCC president A. Mahesh Kumar Goud also expressed deep sorrow, highlighting Gopinath’s rise from the grassroots to becoming a respected leader. “He earned a name as a people’s leader who never lost touch with those he served,” Goud said. He conveyed his condolences to the family and prayed for peace to Gopinath’s soul.
