Legal intervention secures school admission for poor girl without documents in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: A young girl, Mallela Srividya, from a poor family in Hyderabad, was denied admission at Sri Vidyanjali Private School in SR Nagar due to the lack of a birth certificate and Aadhaar card. However, after legal intervention, she was finally admitted, ensuring her right to education.

Her family, struggling with poverty, had been unable to procure the necessary documents, leaving Srividya without access to formal schooling. When the issue was brought to the notice of the State Legal Services Authority (SLSA), immediate steps were taken to resolve the matter.

Legal Action Ensures Education for Poor Girl

Under the directions of Panchakshari, Member Secretary of SLSA, Abdul Javed Pasha, Secretary of the Hyderabad District Legal Services Authority and Senior Civil Judge, visited Srividya’s home on Thursday, along with Education Officer Rohini, to assess the situation.

Her parents explained that they had repeatedly requested the school to admit her, but authorities insisted on the mandatory submission of documents, which the family could not afford to obtain.

Recognizing the urgency of the matter, Judge Abdul Javed Pasha instructed the school authorities to admit Srividya immediately, even in the absence of the required documents. He personally visited the school and met the principal, urging them to ensure that no child is deprived of education due to missing documents.

Support from Legal and Education Officials

Following the intervention, the school principal agreed to admit Srividya and assured full cooperation in facilitating her education. The legal and education officials also emphasized the importance of government policies to prevent similar situations in the future.

To further support Srividya’s education, Judge Abdul Javed Pasha personally handed over textbooks and notebooks to her. Officials ensured that she received the necessary learning materials, highlighting the commitment to inclusive education for underprivileged children.

Call for Government Action to Prevent Denial of Education

Legal and education officials stressed the need for government intervention to prevent schools from refusing admission based on documentation issues. They urged authorities to simplify enrollment procedures so that children from poor backgrounds do not face unnecessary obstacles in accessing education.

Education Officer Rohini, Deputy Inspector of Schools Dr. Shanta Rathod, Protection Officer Vijay Bhaskar, PLV Suresh, and school staff were present during the intervention, ensuring a coordinated effort in resolving the issue.

The State Legal Services Authority (SLSA) continues to play a key role in ensuring justice and education for underprivileged children, reinforcing that no child should be denied education due to bureaucratic barriers.
