Hyderabad: The Telangana State Election Commission (SEC) has issued the local body election schedule, covering ZPTC, MPTC, and gram panchayat seats across the state. Elections for 565 ZPTC and 5,749 MPTC posts will be held in two phases. The nomination process for the first phase began immediately after the SEC released the official notification.
As per the schedule announced on September 29, voters will cast their ballots for 292 ZPTC and 2,963 MPTC positions on October 23. Candidates must submit their nominations by October 11. Election officers will scrutinize the nominations on October 12 and allow withdrawals until October 15.
The remaining positions will be covered in the second phase. The nomination window for these seats runs from October 13 to 15. Officials will complete scrutiny on October 16, while the deadline for withdrawals is October 19. Voting for the second phase will take place on October 27.
Counting of votes for both phases will happen on November 11, and the SEC will declare results the same day.
Three-phase schedule for gram panchayat elections
The SEC has also outlined a three-phase plan to elect 12,733 sarpanch and 1,12,288 ward members across Telangana. In the first phase, nomination filing will take place from October 17 to 19. Scrutiny will follow on October 20, and withdrawals are allowed until October 23. Polling is scheduled for October 31, and votes will be counted that afternoon.
In the second phase, nominations will be accepted from October 21 to 23. Officials will carry out scrutiny on October 24, with October 27 set as the last date for withdrawals. Polling will be conducted on November 4, and results will be announced the same day.
Finally, the third phase will begin with nominations from October 25 to 27. Scrutiny will take place on October 28, and the withdrawal deadline is October 31. Voters will go to the polls on November 8, with counting and result declaration scheduled for the same afternoon.
