Hyderabad: A group of Congress MLAs from the Madiga community has made a direct appeal to the party’s central leadership, seeking cabinet representation ahead of the much-anticipated reshuffle in Telangana.
MLAs Adlur Laxman, Mandula Samel, Kavvam Palli Satyanarayana, and Lakshmi Kantharao arrived in New Delhi on Thursday to press their case before AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and party general secretary K.C. Venugopal. Their demand: meaningful inclusion of Madiga voices in the new state cabinet.
“The Madiga community has always stood by the Congress. This is not about exclusion of others—we welcome representation for the Mala community too. But for true social justice, Madigas must also find a place in the cabinet,” said one of the MLAs, underscoring the community’s longstanding political loyalty.
The delegation emphasised that their appeal was not about individual ambition but about ensuring the community’s rightful political space. “We’ve come to Delhi because the key decisions on cabinet appointments rest with the high command. We’re confident the leadership will respond positively,” another MLA noted.
The MLAs added that they had no preference over which individual from their community is given the berth. “Any deserving candidate from the Madiga community will have our support,” they said.
Their visit comes at a time when the Congress is preparing for a cabinet rejig in Telangana, with social representation a key factor in the deliberations. (NSS)
