Hyderabad: Eight buffaloes were killed in Chinna Mupparam village, Inugurthi mandal, on Thursday after they came into contact with a live power line that had fallen during recent storms.
Locals said the line had been down for days, knocked loose by heavy rain and wind. Despite several complaints, no one from the electricity department showed up to fix it.
The buffaloes had wandered out to graze when they stepped on the wire. All of them died instantly. Farmers in the area are furious and want the officials held accountable.
βThey knew about it. We told them. Still, no one came,β one villager said.
The community is also asking the state government for compensation. Many are calling the deaths preventable – and blaming what they see as official indifference for the loss.
