Hyderabad: A 7-foot python caused panic in Mahabubnagar’s Pebberu town after it entered a house and slipped into the bed of a sleeping youth. The incident took place in Chelimilla Colony around 3 am on Monday.
Chenna Keshavulu, who had laid a cot on his veranda for the night, woke to the sound of persistent barking from neighbourhood dogs. Sensing movement on his bed, he jumped up and discovered a massive python coiled beneath the sheets. He immediately shouted for help, waking his relatives and neighbours.
By the time locals gathered, the snake had moved from the bed and taken shelter under a staircase. Resident Mallesh contacted Krishna Sagar, head of the Sagar Snake Society in Wanaparthy, who arrived with team members Chiluka Kumar Sagar and Avinash. The team successfully captured the 13-kilogram python.
The rescue was carried out under the supervision of Forest Section Officer Vijay. The snake was later released into the wild near Pedda Gudem forest.
Officials from the forest department warned that snakes often enter residential areas during monsoon and urged residents to stay alert. Citizens were advised to keep surroundings clean and contact wildlife teams immediately if a snake is spotted.
