Hyderabad: TPCC President and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud on Thursday came out strongly in support of the Indian Army’s courage, even as he accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of faltering on national security after the recent terror attack in Pahalgam.
Speaking at the Jai Hind Yatra in Nizampet, Goud paid glowing tribute to the armed forces, crediting them with exemplary bravery in striking across the border to dismantle terror camps. “These men and women are the true pride of India. Their sacrifices must never be forgotten,” he said.
Mahesh Goud used the moment to draw comparisons with past leadership, invoking former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s wartime decisiveness. “She didn’t flinch. She broke Pakistan in 1971 and created Bangladesh. Even Atal Bihari Vajpayee called her the Iron Lady,” he reminded the crowd.
But it was his sharp criticism of the present dispensation that drew the loudest cheers. Mahesh Goud accused the Modi government of lacking both resolve and independence in its Pakistan policy. “After the Pahalgam attack, what did the PM do? Nothing. He backed down under Trump’s pressure and called for a ceasefire. That’s not leadership,” he charged.
He further alleged that instead of addressing the security lapse, the BJP was trying to politicise the tragedy by attacking Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. “They are trying to cover up their own failures by targeting Rahul ji. But the people are watching,” he said.
The Jai Hind Yatra, led by Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, was described by Mahesh Goud as a nationwide call to stand by the armed forces and hold the government accountable on national security. “This isn’t just about politics—it’s about protecting our country,” he said.
