Hyderabad: TPCC president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud on Sunday inaugurated the Rajiv Gandhi Disability T20 Championship 2025 at Uppal Stadium, Hyderabad.
Addressing the gathering, he recalled that former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was deeply passionate about sports. He said the Telangana government, under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, is committed to building a strong sports ecosystem across the state.
Goud announced that efforts are underway to develop an international-level stadium in the proposed “Fourth City,” similar to the one in Uppal. He added that CM Revanth Reddy has a keen interest in sports, and the state government is giving it special priority.

He affirmed that plans are in motion to make Telangana a sports hub by the next Olympic Games. Sharing his personal connection to cricket, Goud said he once captained the Nizamabad Cricket Blue team. He also identified himself as a lifelong cricket enthusiast.
Encouraging parental involvement, Goud urged families to support children interested in sports. He stressed that early motivation and consistent backing would pave the way for emerging athletes.
