Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud on Sunday strongly condemned what he described as a heinous attack on Mahaa News office.
Speaking at a round table event organised by the channel, he termed the assault by hired goons and rowdy elements as a deplorable act.
Goud alleged that BRS leaders had plotted to tap phones in order to gain an electoral advantage. He claimed phone conversations of politicians, film celebrities, judges, women IAS officers, and even BRS party leaders themselves were illegally monitored.
Calling phone tapping an inhuman act in the country’s history, he criticised the then administration for bringing in retired IAS officer Prabhakar Rao to supervise phone tapping operations instead of relying on an IPS officer.
He questioned who gave the right to intrude on people’s personal freedoms through surveillance.
Goud named not only Prabhakar and Radhakrishna as responsible, but also held accountable the then chief minister, cabinet ministers, top officials, the DGP, the legal principal secretary, and the home secretary.
