Hyderabad: Telangana PCC president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud on Friday launched a blistering attack on the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the BJP, accusing them of forging a secret pact for political survival.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, Goud said the BRS had become a sinking ship, with the family of its leader, K Chandrashekar Rao, now squabbling over the spoils of power. He warned that if the BRS struck an alliance with the BJP, the party’s fortunes would dwindle to a mere eight assembly seats.
He challenged Union Minister Kishan Reddy to clarify whether he had the courage to answer for his own party’s MLA, Raja Singh, whose controversial remarks had sparked outrage. “Before making baseless allegations against Rahul Gandhi, BJP leaders must first account for their own party’s behaviour,” he said.
On the issue of Pakistan, Goud said the people had a right to know what had truly been achieved or lost in the name of national security. He expressed disbelief that Reddy seemed to forget how Atal Bihari Vajpayee once called Indira Gandhi the ‘Iron Lady’ after her leadership forced Pakistan to surrender along with 90,000 soldiers. “During Indira Gandhi’s tenure, there were hundreds of surgical strikes,” he said, “but today the BJP is misusing military secrets for political gains, putting national security at risk.”
Goud accused both parties of being hand-in-glove, highlighting how comments by BRS MLC Kavitha and Raja Singh exposed the underhand alliance between the two. He alleged that property disputes within the KCR family had worsened, with notices in the Kaleshwaram scam reigniting the old friendship between KCR and BJP MP Etela Rajender. He said Rajender had rushed to meet Harish Rao at Shamirpet farmhouse and the two had phoned KCR together.
Goud slammed the BJP for lacking a clear strategy during wartime and claimed that the Modi government had succumbed to international pressure. He also criticised the BJP’s silence on Raja Singh’s remarks, calling it evidence of a secret pact with the BRS.
He accused BJP leaders of deliberately attacking Rahul Gandhi to distract the public from real issues. “The Congress party stands firmly with the backward classes and our stand on the caste census is crystal clear,” he said.
Commenting on the recent leak of Kavitha’s letter, he suggested it might have been orchestrated from within the KCR family itself, indicating that their internal feuds had spilled into the public domain.
